About Me

Director of Commissioning for Specialised Services

Melanie Wilkey took up the role of Director of Commissioning for Specialised Services in December 2024.

Previously, Melanie served as the Deputy Director of Commissioning at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and has worked in the NHS for 16 years. She is an experienced commissioner and has extensive senior management experience in a range of different industries, including higher education and utilities.  

As a senior leader she has driven forward innovation in commissioning and partnerships, led on programmes of transformation and is passionate about improving outcomes for the population, reducing inequality and delivering value.

Melanie has an interest in the development of leadership and management theory and practice and is currently undertaking a doctorate exploring The Impostor Phenomenon in the Workplace.

A committed member of City Voices Cardiff, Melanie loves to sing as part of a choir. Having grown up in the Vale of Glamorgan and lived across the UK, she now lives in Cardiff and is happy to be settled back in Wales.
