Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS)

The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) Cymru is a pioneering initiative in Wales, offering Consultant and Critical Care Practitioner-led pre-hospital critical care services. Launched in April 2015, EMRTS Cymru is a collaborative effort between the Welsh Air Ambulance Charitable Trust  and NHS Wales.

EMRTS Cymru is dedicated to delivering timely and expert critical care to individuals across Wales, bridging the gap between hospital-based care and emergency medical assistance in the field.

Services include:

  • Consultant-led Critical Care:  experienced medical professionals, including consultants and critical care practitioners, provide advanced medical interventions at the scene of emergencies.

  • Rapid Transfer: ensure swift and seamless transfer of patients to appropriate medical facilities, optimising their chances of recovery.

  • Collaborative Partnerships: works closely with Welsh Air Ambulance Charitable Trust and NHS Wales to ensure the highest standards of care and accessibility for all patients.
