As the lead for the Welsh Kidney Network, we coordinate and oversee the delivery of comprehensive kidney care services, including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.
Our commissioning portfolio encompasses a wide range of renal replacement therapies, including transplantation, haemodialysis (unit, satellite, and home-based), and peritoneal dialysis. We work to ensure that individuals with kidney failure have access to the most appropriate and effective treatment options to meet their needs and preferences.
Additionally, we oversee renal immunotherapy services, which play a crucial role in managing autoimmune and inflammatory kidney conditions. We also facilitate access to Renal Erythropoietin Stimulating Agents (ESA), ensuring appropriate prescribing and administration to manage anaemia in patients with kidney disease.
At the Renal Services Commissioning Department, we are dedicated to improving outcomes and enhancing the quality of life for individuals affected by kidney disease. Through strategic commissioning, collaboration with stakeholders, and continuous quality improvement initiatives, we strive to ensure equitable access to renal care services and support across Wales.
