Positive Feedback for NWJCC Collaboration with CMAT

The NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee (NWJCC) has received positive feedback from a recent user survey regarding their collaboration with the Commercial Medicines Access Team (CMAT) of the All-Wales Therapeutics and Toxicology Centre (AWTTC).

CMAT and NWJCC work closely to ensure up-to-date information for commissioned medicines and commercial access schemes.

The survey highlighted the high usage and functionality of the Commercial Medicines Access Reference Tool (CMART) for NWJCC-related information.

This NWJCC work focuses on improving equity and population health by expanding access to innovative therapies for the people of Wales through the implementation of evidence based recommendations published by the national Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Homepage | NICE  and All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG) All Wales Medicines Strategy Group | GOV.WALES

It also facilitates integration across NHS Wales by working collaboratively with the commercial medicines access team to better inform Health Boards of the availability of specialised medicines for patients.

 The survey showed:

  • 100% of users seek JCC commissioning status via CMART.
  • 90% of users check the JCC Blueteq® form status.
  • Over 60% of users access the JCC policy via the CMART hyperlink.

Iolo Doull, Medical Director at the NWJCC said: “Users appreciate the collaboration, and it is good to see the results of this survey where our collaborative efforts are making a difference across the NHS Wales system for clinicians and ultimately patients.

“This is one of the ways that the NWJCC shares relevant information on commissioned medicines and the Blueteq® system with the Health Boards.

“Our vision at the NWJCC is to be centre of excellence for collaborative commissioning, and from this stakeholder feedback, we can now focus on further improvements, to increase the accuracy in NWJCC commissioning status updates, with support from CMAT and communication via CMART.

”Special thanks to Eleri Schiavone, Angharad Lawson, and Owen Campbell in our NWJCC Medical Team for their significant contributions to this collaboration.”
