Director of Commissioning for Ambulance and 111

Ross Whitehead assumed the role of Director of Commissioning for Ambulance and 111 in September 2024.

Previously, Ross served as the Deputy Ambulance Services Commissioner at the Emergency Ambulance Services Committee (EASC) starting in June 2022, after holding the position of Assistant Ambulance Services Commissioner since February 2016.

As a senior leader, he has supported the former Chief Ambulance Services Commissioner and the EASC in driving innovation and transformative programs across ambulance services and the broader Unscheduled Care System.

Ross began his NHS career as a Graduate Management Trainee before training as a paramedic in 2010. He has worked as a clinician with the South East Coast Ambulance Service and later with the Welsh Ambulance Service until he joined EASC in 2016.

A keen athlete and Iron Man, Ross lives in South Wales with his wife and young family.
