Shameem is passionate about Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, understanding of health inequalities and ensuring the voices of people with lived experience are central to service delivery.

Shameem has worked across the health and social care sector for most of her career using her community development, project and programme management skills to support people to have equal access to services by working with organisations to better understand the needs of service users and adapting services to be more inclusive.

This has included:

  • Working with people at risk of exclusion to live the life they choose, primarily work with people with learning disabilities, autistic people and those with mental ill-health.
  • The inclusion of Black and Minority Ethnic patients, those with learning disabilities and people with dementia in palliative care services.

  • The inclusion of LGBTQ+ communities and Black and Minority Ethnic families in drug and alcohol services.

  • Research on fostering and adoption of Black and Minority Ethnic children

  • The inclusion of disabled young people from Minority Ethnic groups in short break services.

 

Shameem also has experience in Strategy and Business Development and Communications, having established a successful fundraising function, a communications function, generated significant income for new and innovative services as well as led aftercare and recovery services in the Women's Sector.

Shameem has experience of being part of governing bodies in the Education sector as part of her voluntary work.
