Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) came into force on 1 January 2005, marking a significant shift in public administration policy from a culture of confidentiality to one of openness and accountability.

Under the FOIA, the public has the general right to access information held by public authorities, such as the NHS Wales Informatics Service, subject to certain limited exemptions. For more details, you can view the full text of the Act at Freedom of Information Act 2000.
