Juliet Brown joins NWJCC as Chief Commissioner

The NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee (NWJCC) is pleased to confirm that Juliet Brown has now taken up post as the organisation’s Chief Commissioner.

Juliet joins NWJCC with more than 20 years’ experience working across complex public service systems, including health and social care, wider public services and the voluntary sector. She has held senior leadership roles focusing on system transformation, service improvement and strategic programme delivery, including leading large‑scale programmes, overseeing organisational workforce redesign and managing significant portfolios.

Since its establishment, NWJCC has made significant progress in strengthening collaborative commissioning arrangements across Wales, and Juliet joins at an important point in the organisation’s development, with strong momentum building around delivery of the annual plan.

On taking up her role, Juliet said:

“I am genuinely delighted to be joining the NWJCC at such an important moment. The opportunity to further strengthen collaboratively commissioned services for patients across Wales is a real privilege.

"I am looking forward to getting to know colleagues across the organisation, understanding the opportunities and challenges within our work, and working together to build on the strong foundations already in place.

"I am passionate about developing our team, building pride in what we do, and ensuring that everything we deliver is firmly focused on improving outcomes and experiences for the people we serve.”

NWJCC Chair, Ian Green OBE, said:

“I am delighted to welcome Juliet to the NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee as Chief Commissioner. Juliet brings significant experience of leading large‑scale transformation and working across complex systems, alongside a strong commitment to values‑led leadership and collaboration.

"The Joint Committee has made important progress since its establishment, and Juliet joins us at a time when there is strong momentum behind our work. I am confident that she will build on these foundations as we continue to strengthen collaborative commissioning for the benefit of patients across Wales.

"I would also like to thank Huw George for his leadership as Interim Chief Commissioner and for supporting a smooth transition into this next phase, as well as congratulate him on his retirement.”
